Remembering Thomas Walter Black

Thomas Walter Black, age 84, of Wyoming was called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Tom was a warm, caring, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a faith-filled man who cared deeply about his family, friends, and his fellow Village of Ars neighbors. Tom and Mary Lou (Hansknecht) graduated from Catholic Central in 1957 and were married on May 2, 1959 and took up residence in the house they currently live in. Tom was quick to smile, tell a joke, or share a story. Tom owned his own carpet business and laid the carpet at St. John Vianney Catholic Church which is still in place today. He coached girls softball for his daughters in SKRA Little League and Catholic Central. He loved dogs, especially bluetick coonhounds, and enjoyed feeding the squirrels and blue jays. After retiring from the carpet business he spent time in the summer working for the City of Wyoming Yard Waste location. He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, and being outside. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen; parents, James and Margaret Black; brother, James. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Mary Louise; children, Beth (David) Nichol, Tammy Black, Thomas (Chris) Black II.; grandchildren, Corey, Kali (James) White, Tara (Jeff) Pratt, Thomas III, Katie, Matthew; great grandchildren, Diamond, Bella, Willow, Janna, Ben, Charlie; brother, Jerry (Chris) Black. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, July 21, 2023 at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming, with Rev. John Vallier presiding. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 10 - 11 am at church prior to Mass.

I will miss your smiling face across the fence every single day. You and Mary are the best neighbors anyone could ever have, and I will always be thankful that you were mine. Happy hunting, Tom, and please say Hi to Daddy and Mom for me.
