Thomas Schoenhofen

Thomas B. Schoenhofen - The Lord called Tom at the age of 61, a beloved husband, dad, son, brother and uncle to his heavenly home Friday, September 4, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Schoenhofen; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Betty Tisron. 

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Judy; their children, Christopher Bowling, Katherine Schoenhofen,  Jack Schoenhofen;  father, Bernard Schoenhofen; sister, Melinda (Brian) Patterson; brother, Stephen Schoenhofen; also surviving are Judy’s brothers and sisters, Jacquline (Gary) Bailey, Ross Tisron, Melinda Tisron, Mick (Jill) Tisron; many nieces and nephews.  Tom lived in Wyoming most of his life and was a proud graduate of Wyoming Park High School Class of 1977. He attended Grand Rapids First Church for more than 20 years, this is where he met his wife Judy.  They were married July 1, 2000, they added to their family right away and Tom’s stepson became a big brother twice.  Tom worked at Leitz Tooling Systems for 23 years.  He started running a die machine and worked his way up to IT Manager.  Tom was a self-taught computer expert.  He could also fix anything he put his mind to.  His favorite saying was “It’s just a machine – you can fix a machine”.  Tom loved his family and was a loving husband and beloved father.  He loved every second spent with his kids and extended family.  He loved Jesus first, was a proud American and passionate about his political beliefs. Tom will be remembered for his love of Christmas and everything surrounding the season.  Most of all, as time moves forward, his family and friends ask with each passing Christmas season, do not be sad, but remember and rejoice that Tom is celebrating the birth of Christ our savior in the best place ever.  

Funeral services for Tom will be held Wednesday, September 9,  at 11 AM at Community Christian Reformed Church, 150 Burt Ave, SE, Grand Rapids.  His family will greet relatives and friends Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel - Wyoming, 3131 S.
