Thomas Verburg, age 79, of Wayland, was unexpectedly called to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 1, 2022. He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Verburg; sister-in-law, Suzanne Verburg. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Beverly; daughter, Julie and Timothy Oddy; grandchildren, Alexandria (Lexi) and Jalen Brooks, Alison, and Theo; siblings: Richard Verburg, Nancy and Lee Miller, Diane Martin, Charles and Diane Verburg, Michael and Kristy Verburg, Donna Verburg, many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Tom was a warm, loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. He valiantly served his country in the US Army in Vietnam as a tank operator. Tom enjoyed bowling, golf and going to the casino with his brother Richard. He also enjoyed driving his Corvette and was a member of the Grand Valley Corvette Club. He loved animals and was a magnet for dogs. He rarely missed his grandchildren’s sporting events and he loved socializing with his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Community of Christ Church, 4790 Jacob St. SW, Grandville. Burial at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Michigan Veterans Affairs.
