Remembering Thomas Edward Decot
Thomas Edward Decot, age 82, was called to his heavenly home to join the love of his life for 63 years, Cynthia, on Sunday, September 30, 2018. Cindy passed on Easter morning, just a few months before Tom. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Stan Decot, Bill Decot, Monica Decot, Julia Mooter, Marcella McCraig, Jeannette Padgett, Eulalie Decot, and Rose Decot. He will be dearly missed by his children, Deborah and Donald Ferguson, Thomas and Debi Decot, Bradley and Gretchen Decot, Kimberly and Jeff DeBoer, Tamara and Craig Anderson, Bryan and Nancy Decot; special granddaughter and best pal, Stephanie Decot who helped Papa through his medical journey; grandchildren, Sean and Aiko Ferguson, Brian and Lisa Ferguson, Nikki Decot Downs, Frank and Cindy Decot, Elizabeth Decot and John DeKorne, David Decot, Hannah Decot, Dustin Anderson; great grandchildren, Charlotte Downs, Carter Downs, Evie Decot, Shelby Seguin; special family friend, Jason Filighera; brothers and sisters, Ralph Decot, Richard and Rose Decot, Connie and George Householder, and Laura Decot; sisters and brothers-in-law, Hannah and Bob Wilson, Tom and Eileen Emmert, Tim Emmert; and many nieces and nephews. Tom was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a living testimony to his faith, trust, and belief in his God and the Catholic Church and instilled this faith in his children. He was a long time, devout member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He worked hard all of his life to provide for his family. Well done, good and faithful servant! The family would like to thank the staff of Faith Hospice for their tender loving care and Mary Witucki, SJV Pastoral Director, for her dedication to bringing the Eucharist to Tom. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 8, 2018, at 11:00 am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 4101 Clyde Park Ave. SW, with Fr. John Vallier presiding. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Sunday, October 7, from 1:00 to 5:30 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming where a Rosary service will be held at 5:30 pm.
