Thomas “Tom” Dale VanderWal

Thomas “Tom” D. VanderWal Sr., age 74, of Paris, MI, formerly of Allendale, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 26, 2024. Tom was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa who was fun, loving and blessed with a great sense of humor. Over the years, he enjoyed the outdoors, especially  hunting and fishing with his family. He was always a supporter of all his family's activities and made it a priority to attend as many events as he could. Tom’s commitment to his faith and family was evident to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Denice VanderWal; his mother, Gertude VanderWal. Tom will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Cindy VanderWal; his children and grandchildren, Tom Jr. and Tracy VanderWal (Tarrah VanderWal and Jeff Adams and their son, Brycen, Jacob VanderWal, Leah and Thomas Moore), Daniel Sr. and Lori VanderWal (Daniel Jr. and Mary VanderWal, Dustin VanderWal, Derek VanderWal), Theresa and Mike Duursma (Cassandra Duursma and her son, Cayden, Jodi and TJ Parks, Michaela, Brendan, Nicholas, and Bella Duursma); his “sisters”, Shirley Visser and Betty Alderink; many loving nieces, nephews and cousins, and several dear friends.  The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and caregivers of Corewell Health Hospice for the love and compassionate care given to Tom over the past few months. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Allendale) 6651 Scott Street with Pastor Wayne Kraai officiating. Burial Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, August 5, from 5-8 pm and also from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Corewell Health Hospice or consider the needs of the family.
