Thema Gummo

Thelma M. Gummo, age 84, of Hudsonville, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021, and will be spending her first Christmas in Heaven with Jesus and her family who preceded her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jim Gummo; grandson, Brad Prins; parents, Floyd and Gladys Johnson; and siblings, John Johnson and Oscar Johnson. Thelma was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was blessed with an independent spirit and a deep faith in her Lord and Savior. She worked at Sam’s Club as a membership clerk for the past 25 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Betty and Mike Prins, Jim and Laurie Gummo, Dave and Cyndee Gummo; 7 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Janice Bateman of North Carolina, James Johnson of Tennessee, Robert and Linda Johnson of North Carolina; and several loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Monday, December 27, 2021, from 11:00 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Floral View Memorial Gardens. After the graveside service, family and friends are invited to join the family for light refreshments at the MKD Funeral Home Reception and Event Center located next to the funeral home in Grandville.
