Thelma Ione (nee DeWent) Velthouse, age 91, of Grandville, beloved wife, mother, and grandma went to be with Jesus, on Monday, July 29, 2019. Thelma was a person of gentle spirit, faithfulness, and joy. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Adrian; and her sister, Lois Diekema. She will be lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren, Karen and Gary Sterk (Jeremy and Megan Sterk, Jennifer and Shawn Hall, Jon and Nicole Sterk), Gary and Judy Velthouse (Aaron and Lynn Velthouse, Tammy Velthouse), Kathy and Frank Van Veen (Jessica and Kevin Sexton, Leslie and Tim Mc Roberts), Marcia and Bob Smits (Michele and Andrew Michmerhuizen, Rhonda and Dan Koerner), Diane and Bob Kleczynski (Josh and Abby Kleczynski); 24 great-grandchildren and expecting two sets of twins soon; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Bob and Donna DeWent; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give thanks to Sunset Retirement Community for their years of care and support.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville), 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with Pastor Vern Bareman officiating. Interment will be held at Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Thursday from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Sunset Legacy Foundation.
