Thelma Jane Vander Meer, age 96, of Grand Rapids went to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 5, 2021. She died peacefully, perhaps hearing a favorite hymn at her passing. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, John; sons, Craig Vander Meer, and Mark Vander Meer; brother, Willard Vogelaar; sister-in-law, Helen Vogelaar. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Rick and Carol Vander Meer, Doug Vander Meer (Rhonda Bradley), daughters-in-law, Sue Vander Meer, Maria Vander Meer; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and dear friends including Doug and Maryln Welton and their children. Thelma loved the sun, the beach, and Lake Michigan. She played the organ and was familiar with most any hymn. There will be a graveside service at Rest Lawn Memorial Park on Friday, August 20 at 1:30 pm for immediate family only. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Breton Rehab or Hope Hospice.
