Remembering Tarah Lynn Sproul
Tarah Lynn (Boeve) Sproul, 47 years old, a devoted wife and mother, left us and walked through Heaven’s door on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. She was born on January 5, 1979. She graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1997 and then from Houghton College in Houghton, New York with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training in 2002. She later attained certification in medical coding, working in that field for several years until her early retirement from her role as Billing and Coding Manager at Cancer and Hematology Centers of West Michigan.
She loved God and made it her goal to know him and to follow his direction. Through several cancer diagnoses, she trusted that he had a plan for her life. Everything she did was guided by her faith.
She fell in love with Brian Sproul and married him on May 8, 2004. He adored her, cared for her when there were needs, and enjoyed their numerous escapes for time together.
They welcomed their daughter Johanna into their family in 2007 and their son Weston in 2009. She loved them with everything she had, devoting time and energy to their development and happiness. They all remember carefully crafted birthday cakes, daily family dinners, and special pancake breakfasts. She meticulously planned the several cross-country trips they took visiting family and national parks.
She loved gardening, traveling, singing, reading and learning. She loved her many friends who delighted in her sense of humor and her positive attitude even when life was hard.
She and her family are members of Peace Church of Middleville, Michigan, where she served as a teacher in the women’s Bible study program. She and her family were all amazed at the loving support offered by the people of Peace Church over many years.
As one friend said of her, “Tarah . . . was a picture of strength, grace, joy, and courage . . . She always had a smile for you when you saw her, she was gentle and kind, passionate, faithful, determined, and humble. She blessed many more lives than she ever knew and will continue to do so through her beautiful family and the legacy she leaves.”
Tarah is survived by Brian Sproul, her husband of 22 years, and their two children, Johanna and Weston. She is also survived by her parents, Beverly (Warren) VanKampen and Timothy (Karen) Boeve; her sister, Andrea Masvero, and her children, Josiah and Miah; her in-laws, Edward and Elizabeth Sproul; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and Catherine Rhodes, and their children, Merin and Neil; as well as beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday, August 15 at Peace Church, 6950 Cherry Valley, Middleville, with Rev. Ryan Kimmel and Jonathan DeCou officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family prior to the service, from 12:30-2:30 pm at the church. Burial will be held at Merriman Cemetery.
