Tamara B. Vanden Toorn

Tamara “Tammy” Beth Vanden Toorn, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on February 13, 2025. She was born on December 21, 1966, and spent her childhood in Jackson, Michigan. A proud graduate of East Kentwood High School, Tammy was a dedicated swimmer and diver who carried her strong spirit and determination into every aspect of her life.

Above all else, Tammy’s greatest devotion was to her family. She poured her heart into lovingly raising four children and celebrating each of their unique paths. Her creativity shone through her passion for knitting and her artwork—countless blankets, sweaters, and scarves were brought to life by her talented hands. During the holidays, Tammy was famous for her “over-decorating,” which transformed simple gatherings into magical experiences full of warmth and laughter.

Tammy is survived by her husband, Albert VandenToorn and her children: Iris (Jacob) Roberts with grandchildren Wesley, Glenn, Jax and Elizabeth; Elizabeth (Micheal) Preston; Dakota (Hilary) VandenToorn with grandchildren Aayla, Riley, and Grey; and Colby VandenToorn with grandchildren Adalyn, Isaac, and Lincoln. She is also survived by her sister, Catherine (Jim) Beckett. Tammy was preceded in death by her mother, Alane Philipp.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday, February 26 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St. SE, Caledonia. Burial will be held at Lakeside Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
