Symon Wynia

Symon “Sy” Wynia, age 90, of Jenison, was called to his heavenly home on Friday, September 4, 2015, and is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.   He was born December 1, 1924 in the Netherlands.  After he married Anna C. Urbaan on August 26, 1948, they lived together in Indonesia after WWII, later immigrating to the United States in 1956.  Sy and Anna were longtime members of Fellowship Christian Reformed Church.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Anna; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Betty Wynia.  Sy will be lovingly remembered by his children and grandchildren, Joan Wynia of TX, Audrey and Bruce Thorburn (Megan and Tim Majewski and their son, Henry, Allison and Kyle Kibbey), Dan and Sandy Wynia (Heather, Christopher), Ann and Tom Zabinski, Carol and Scot Lambert; several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friends, Len and Lois Koetje.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00am at Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, with Rev. Phil Boender and Rev. William Huyser, officiating.  Interment Rest Lawn Memorial Park.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Sunset Association Benevolent Fund or Fellowship CRC Christian Education Fund.  Relatives and friends may meet his family on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr., Grandville and Wednesday 10-10:45 am at the church.  The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff and residents at Waterford and Sunset Manor for their loving care, and most of all their loving friendships established, during his time there.
