Susan Murl Latham

Susan Latham, age 76, of Sparta, passed away peacefully with her husband of 54 years and her daughter by her side on Friday, October 20, 2023. Susan operated a machine shop for around 45 years until she retired. Susan was an avid quilter and rug hooker. Susan and her husband loved to go to Rendezvous where they enjoyed shooting muzzleloaders and primitive camping. She was a member of the Ivory mountain and the Tomahawk clubs where she earned the name “Foxy Lady.” She was an outgoing and kind soul who touched everyone she met. She was a mother to many outside her family and she will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her son, Britton “Britt” Latham II; father, Gerald “Jack” Grooters Sr.; and her mother, Barbara Grooters. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Britton; daughter, Tammie (Phil) Spetoskey; grandchildren, Josie, Kelsey, Colby, Breylyn, Jacob (Tia Grewner), Kendra, Brandon, Nick, Amber Coalter; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Burial will take place at Idlewild Cemetery at a later date. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
