Susan Groeneveld

Susan “Suzy” Groeneveld, age 69, peacefully passed away at her home in Zeeland on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 after a long battle with COPD. She was surrounded by her children and dogs in her final moments. Sue was born on December 14, 1953, raised in Allendale, and graduated from Allendale High School. She was a retired truck driver after working in a bakery for many years. She loved gardening, cooking, baking, and most of all spending time with her family and caring for her two dogs. Suzy touched many lives with her sense of humor and infectious giggle. She was always outgoing and could be counted on in a pinch to lend a hand. She was always friendly and could make friends anywhere she went. She was truly a bright light and loved by all. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Wendell and Iva Groeneveld; and brother, John Groeneveld. She is survived by her four children, Thomas Groeneveld, Ryan Groeneveld, Daniel Cardinal, and Cyndi Sturdavant; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and siblings, Michael Groeneveld, Janet Espeleta, and Joan McComber. Susan’s favorite season was Spring. A Celebration of Life gathering will be announced at a later date for Spring 2024.
