Remembering Susan Griffis
Susan M. Griffis, age 76, of Jenison, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
Susan dedicated many years of her life to helping others through her work and service to her community. She was a manager at Ed Koster Plumbing Company for over 20 years and later worked at the Grandville Home Depot for more than 12 years. She was known for her exceptional customer service and took great pride in doing her job well, earning numerous awards and recognition throughout her career.
Outside of work, she loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit 49 of the 50 states with her husband, always hoping to make it to Hawaii someday. She had an exceptionally generous heart and enjoyed feeding her neighbors, coworkers, and those around her. She was also talented at baking, with homemade bread and brownies being one of her specialties. She also volunteered at the library and enjoyed giving back to others by crocheting lap blankets for veterans and knitting hats for children. She was a true helper with a green thumb and a big heart; she really found joy in caring for others and making a difference in the lives of those around her.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Wade B Griffis; brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Barbara Seffernick; sisters-in-law, Sue Seffernick, Betty Seffernick, and Linda Seffernick; parents, Alfred and Myrtle Seffernick, and dear friend, Luc Thompson. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her children, Patrick Griffis, Heather and Brandon Terrill; grandchildren, Alexander Terrill, Zipan Liao, and Helen Griffis; siblings: Lewis Seffernick, Joseph Seffernick, Michael and Kathleen Seffernick, Stephen Seffernick, Dennis and Janice Seffernick, Beckie and Steve Vaniman, Mary Ann and Tony Romaker, Thomas and Sharon Seffernick; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Paula and David Alderfer, Hugh and Anita Griffis; and many nieces and nephews.
