Remembering Steven Ronda

Steven J. Ronda, age 76, of Jenison, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 11, 2026. Steve was the son of the late Ken and Lois Ronda. His adventurous spirit began early on when he defied his mother by purchasing a motorcycle in his teens and hiding it at the home of a friend who lived down the street. He was a 1967 graduate of East Christian High and earned a BBA at Hope College where Steve went through many quarts of oil in his car driving back and forth to Holland. Steve began his career in the tire and auto industry while in high school working for his grandfather at Ronda Tire. He went on to own and operate Ronda Auto in Jenison, Michigan, 34 years. Steve was a skilled wood worker and enjoyed nothing more than spending time around his pool soaking up the sun with a cold beverage.

Steve will be deeply missed by his wife of 42 years, Linda Ronda; their children, Todd (Melissa) Ronda, Jodi (Jeff) Eggerding, Daryl (Danyelle) McClellan, Lisa (Ron) Immormino, and Troy (Jena) McClellan; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Ronda; brothers, Jerry (Diane) Ronda, Dan (Diane) Ronda; brothers-in-law, Jim Shumate and Ron Swagan. Steve was preceded in death by his sisters, Beth Ann Ronda and Cheryl Shumate.

Funeral services will be held at  11 a.m. on Friday, May 15, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Thursday, May 14, from 5-7 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30-11 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Steve was my high school friend and my college roommate. During our first week at college, Steve and I stopped at Jacobson‘s to buy boxer shorts because that’s what college men wear. We stopped at the local hardware store and picked up our first coffee pot because college men drink coffee we shared so many things the first year of college. He was also at my side for our first dinner at Hope College where we sit next to the woman who would later be my wife. Over all the years of our college. Steve was always with me and he was the best man at my wedding. I can remember so many good memories that we shared together. We spent one very long and late evening at the tire store rebuilding my jeep and replacing the rings on the pistons. He spent time at my cottage and I was at his cottage. After college, we probably didn’t see each other very much and I moved many different places because of the type of work that I did. But we always kept in touch and always sent a birthday message to each other. The world was truly a better place with Steve in it. When we were in high school we went to each other‘s churches for the evening service. Steve, you will be truly missed, but it is a joy to know that someday we will meet each other again in heaven. Your family was blessed to have you as a father and as a mentor..
