Steven E.  Roelofs

Roelofs, Steven E Steven E. Roelofs, age 63, of Jenison, has fought the good fight, finished his race, and was awarded his crown of righteousness on Tuesday, October 15, 2013.  Steve was a faithful man of God with a servant’s heart.  His gift to serve others was evident to all who knew him.  He cherished his family and treasured each moment that was spent with them.  He retired from the City of Hudsonville after many years of faithful service as a supervisor of the Department of Public Works.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Steven and Anne (Veltema) Roelofs; sister, Pam Blystra.  He will be dearly missed by his wife of 41 years, Judy (Idema) Roelofs; his children and grandchildren, Keri and Ross Bush (Jackson, Micah, Natalie), Drew and Arika Roelofs (Lauren, Claire, Will, Faith, Michael), Laura and Jason Nikkel (Arianna, Neal, Max); step father, Clyde Veltema; sisters, Glenda (Fred-deceased) Koning, Tami and Dave Plooster; brother, Doug and Sandy Roelofs; step sister, Carol and Jim Dyk; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Arlene (Lloyd-deceased) Warners, Sharon and Dale Brower, Jacque and Richard Bolt; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  A memorial celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Monday 6 pm at Georgetown Christian Reformed Church, 6475 40th Ave., Hudsonville, with Rev. Marc Nelesen and Rev. Jack Dik officiating.  Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 and 6-9 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Unity Christian High School.
