Steven Dale Roon

Steven Dale Roon, age 45. Steve’s short journey with Glioblastoma came to an end at his home in Jenison, Michigan on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. He was a loving husband and father and a friend to many who crossed his path. He was born in Zeeland, Michigan, on April 13, 1969, son of the late, Gerald Roon, of Hudsonville. Steve graduated from Unity Christian High School in 1987. He was employed by Inontime and previously by VanDyke Excavating. Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He truly loved attending swim meets for his sons and volunteering for the Jenison JAWS Swim Club. Steve was a tremendous help at the family’s cottage and was always willing to help friends and neighbors with something that needed to be fixed or built. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Angela; sons, Sean, Ryan, and Kevin; mother, Annjean Roon; brother, Scott (MaryAnn) Roon; sisters, Cheryl (Mike) Bos, Judy (Doug) Kramer; mother-in-law, Nancy Brown; father-in-law, Floyd (Debbie) Hoyt; sister-in-law, Kelley (Don) McKivitz; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Steve was loved by many and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Thank you to so many wonderful angels who stepped up to help our family during this most difficult journey. We especially want to thank Mary Brinks and the staff of Heartland Hospice for their care. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 7:00 PM at Fellowship Reformed Church, 6610 36th Avenue, Hudsonville with Rev. Shawn Hulst, Rev. Michael VanBuren, Rev. Jeremy Visser, and Pastor John Nauta officiating. Interment will be held at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family Sunday, March 29, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at Fellowship Reformed Church. (Please enter through doors “C” and “D”.) In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve’s memory may be made to the Steve Roon Benefit Fund c/o Fifth Third Bank.
