Stephen Grooters

GROOTERS - Stephen G. Grooters Sr., aged 73 passed away peacefully Friday, March 10, 2017 while vacationing in Florida where he was able to watch one last game played by his beloved Detroit Tigers. He was preceded in death by his father and best friend, Gerald "Jack" Grooters and they are now joined in heaven; his birth mother, Joyce Salisbury; brother, Bruce Grooters; nephews, Britt Latham II and Ben Grooters; and his stepson, Scott McNair. Surviving are his longtime companion and soulmate, Pamela Lavish; his sons, Stephen (Pam) Grooters Jr., Jeffrey (Kim) Grooters, Randall (Holly) Grooters; Richard Grooters; his daughter, Stephanie (Michael) Baker; grandchildren, Tristan, Tarra, Justin, Kaitlyn, Kennidi, Jessica, Dustin and Ella; many great grandchildren; the mother who raised him, Barbara Grooters; brother, Jerry (Lisa) Grooters; sisters, Sue (Britt) Latham, Holly (Bob) Leach; sister-in-law, Diana Grooters; the mothers of his children Helen Ann and Judy; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Steve proudly served his country in the US Army. He was well known for his incredible carpentry work and he used his God given talent to design and build homes. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 20, 2017 at Plainfield Christian Church, 7255 Pine Island Dr. NE. His family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service at the church and 1:00 - 3:00 PM Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE.
