Stephen E. Lucas

Stephen Edward  Lucas, age 70, of Byron Center, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 and is walking and singing with Jesus.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Esther (Gebben) Lucas.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Patsy; daughter, Lona and Adam Van Loozenoord; granddaughters, Abigail and Anna; brother, Roger and Mary Lucas; sisters, Mary Ann Lucas, Marlene and Scott Lehnert, Jessica and Jonah Cajigas; sister-in-law, Diana and Terry Ellis; and many nieces and nephews.  Steve graduated from Calvin Christian High School and then later would go on to receive his Associates degree from Davenport University.  He proudly served our country as a member of the United States Navy Seabees (Construction Battalion) during the Vietnam War.  Steve lived with Diabetes for 43 years.  He was the owner of Steve Lucas Builder, and was a member of the Home Builders Association.  He was a member of the Grand Rapids First Assembly of God Church since 1986, and went on many mission trips around the world with his church.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Grand Rapids First Church, 2100 44th St. SW, Wyoming, with Pastor Larry Alverson officiating.  Interment Winchester Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Grand Rapids First Mission Fund.
