Stacy Cathrine Hoonhorst

Stacy Cathrine Hoonhorst, age 43, of Hudsonville, entered into the grace of God after a long battle on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce (Rohen) Hoekstra; and her father-in-law, Robert Hoonhorst.  She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Dean Hoonhorst; her dearly loved daughters, Rebecca and Elizabeth; father, Robert Hoekstra and Susan Hudson; sister, Brenda and David Fortin; mother-in-law, Mary Hoonhorst; brother-in-law, Chris and Edwina Hoonhorst; many aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family gratefully acknowledges Camie Westhuis, who provided much love, care, and support during Stacy’s illness and passing. Stacy’s greatest passion in life was being a devoted wife and loving mother to her children, whom she loved with all her heart. Her generosity, love, and kindness easily extended to family, friends, neighbors and their children. She blessed anyone who happened to find themselves on her doorstop, lending a helping hand to all and leaving behind her positive attitude, smiles, and laughter. She was a creative master in the kitchen and enjoyed preparing homecooked meals and goodies for family and friends, always sending them home with leftovers for later. Stacy’s talented skills in gardening and cultivating greenery and flowers displayed her love of life, which she shared with her children. She fully enjoyed her quiet time reading, journaling, studying scripture, and communing with God through nature and wildlife she observed from her porch or her gazebo by the pond. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 11 AM at Messiah Christian Reformed Church, 2900 Springdale, Hudsonville, with Pastor Nate Meldrim officiating.  Interment Rosedale Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday 3-5 and 7-9 PM at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and also on Saturday from 10-10:45 AM at the church prior to the service.
