Sidney M. Kooistra

Sidney Marvin Kooistra, age 86, of Jenison, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. Sid was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa who dearly loved his family.  He retired from Consumers Power after over 30 years of faithful service. Sid was a charter member of Cottonwood Church, where he served his Lord with his time and talents in many ways. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Joanne (Poll); children, Larry and Amy Kooistra, Linda and Keith Brew, Lee and Dawn Kooistra, Ken and Bev Kooistra;  12 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Kooistra of California; brother-in-law, Robert Den Hertog of Iowa; sister-in-law, Doris Kraker; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday 11 am at Cottonwood Church, 1101 Cypress, Jenison with Rev. Matthew Palsrok and Rev. John Wiegers   officiating.  Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-5 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW also on Monday from 10-10:45 am prior to the service at the Church.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Faith Hospice or to Cottonwood Church Building Fund.
