Shirley Vredevoogd

Shirley Ruth Vredevoogd (Lanting), age 94, of Grandville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2020 and is now home with her Lord and Savior.  Shirley demonstrated her love for God by the way she patiently served her family, church, and friends.  She cherished all family occasions and many great memories were made over the years.  Shirley enjoyed golfing, bowling, attending Ladies Circle and XYZ Committee at church, volunteering at Grandville and Calvin Christian Schools, and Our Daily Bread Ministries.  She was a faithful member of Trinity Christian Reformed Church for over 65 years.  Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald P. Vredevoogd; grandson, Rick Hunderman; siblings, Bert (Nellie) Lanting, Linda (Truman) Hunter, Larry (Pauline) Lanting, Harry Lanting; brother-in-law, Robert (Wilma) Vredevoogd; sister-in-law, Thressa (Henry) Louwenaar. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Judy and Tom Syswerda, Daniel and Denise Vredevoogd; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Michelle and Mark VanderSloot (Becca, Anna, Stephen, and Abigail), Steve and Rachel Hunderman (Ethan, Kaeli, and Justice), Marcie and Keith Nemith (Ashley, Joey, and Evan), Sara and Steve VanStrien (MaKayla, Cohen, and Jack), Matt and Taylah Syswerda, Aimie Vredevoogd, Justin Vredevoogd, Kari Vredevoogd, Jonathan and Sarah Vredevoogd;  brother, Jim and Clarine Lanting; sister-in-law, Eunice Lanting; several loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 11 am at Trinity Christian Reformed Church, 60 Port Sheldon St. SW, with Rev. Gerry Koning officiating.  The service will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqzO4bkXYy0. Burial Grandville Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday from 5-8 pm at the church and also from 10-11 am prior to the service at the church.  Please be aware that social distancing measures will be in place.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Our Daily Bread Ministries or to Faith Hospice - Trillium Woods.
