Shirley Nelson

Shirley Nelson, age 97, of Wyoming, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 2, 2023. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Theodore R. Nelson; son-in-law, Mike and Claire Poort; grandchildren, Nate and Tanith Poort, Kara and Mark Machiela, Leah and Ryan Aalderink; nine great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Gordon Nelson; special cousins, Bob and Kathy Goorhouse; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Theodore W. Nelson; daughter, Pamela Poort. She loved camping, boating, church activities, entertaining people, and enjoyed spending time with her family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Harry Koops officiating. Burial Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
