Remembering Shirley Mulder
Shirley Ann Mulder, age 80, of Hudsonville, went to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Shirley was born and raised in Jamestown, Michigan, and was known for her selfless heart and willingness to always help others. For more than 50 years, she proudly owned and operated Bauer Truck Parts, where her natural ability to fix just about anything was evident. Shirley was a true tinkerer and fixer who could often be found working on vehicles or finding a way to solve a problem. Above all, she treasured her family and was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Angeline Poortenga; daughter, Dawn Nordyke; sister, Sally Ponstein; and brothers-in-law, Gary DeKleine, Dave Mulder, Ron Witteveen. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of thirty-three years, James Lee Mulder; children, Randy and Jodi Hyma, James Mulder II, Joel and Sandy Mulder; Jay and Jennifer Mulder; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Barbara and Lambert Holstege, Carol DeKleine, Jerry and Sharon Poortenga, Jay and Yvonne Poortenga, Edwin and Linda Poortenga; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rod and Carol Mulder, Phil and Jo Stegenga, Rita Witteveen, Kris Mulder; and many cousins and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. A private family burial will take place at Forest Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
