Shirley J. Heyboer

Shirley Jean Heyboer, age 91, went to be with our Lord on Monday, December 24, 2018. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated from Chicago Christian High School and Evangelical Hospital School of Nursing. She was retired from Metro Health Hospital OB department. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene; daughter, Carol Heyboer; son, David Heyboer; son-in-law, Gordon Puls; granddaughter, Michele Puls; and grandson Daniel Sander. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Puls, Peggy (Thomas) Sander; son, Randall (Rose) Heyboer; daughter in law, Terri Heyboer; many grand and great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Edythe) Rober; sister-in-law, Elsie Heyboer; and several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life for Shirley will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Eighth Reformed Church, 841 Burton St. SW, Wyoming, with Pastor Harry Koops officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Eighth Reformed Church Radio Fund or Metropolitan Hospital Foundation.

I am sorry for the family and their loss. I lived with Shirley and Gene as a foster child and Carol was a good friend of mine from high school. I would often run into Shirley at a store and she never failed to give hugs and always had kind words. I thought about her so often. She would tell me about her kids and her grandkids. She was so proud of them. She will be very missed.
