Remembering Shirley Ann Brown

Shirley Ann Brown, wife and mother, age 92, of West Olive, was called home to her Lord on Sunday, May 15, 2016. She is now resting in the arms of her Savior.  Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Roy L. Brown. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 74 years, Robert Brown; children, Randall J. (Paula) Brown, Robin E. Brown, Ross A. (Fran) Brown, Rick A. (Francine) Brown; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister and brothers, Marjorie Schaap, Warren (Viola) Drooger, David (Lynn) Drooger, Jim (Judy) Drooger, Tim (Marge) Drooger; sisters-in-law, Doris Drooger, Dean Drooger, Doris Drooger, Marjorie Hyde, Jeanne (Darwin) Thornburg, Judy (Kent) Gerber, Lucille Brown; brother-in-law, Wes (Millie) Brown; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Shirley was born in Grand Rapids and raised in Eastmanville, MI. She met Robert Brown in 1942 and moved to California while Robert was in the service. In 1946, they then moved to West Olive.  Shirley helped start Robinson Baptist Church and sang on WOOD radio and WHTC.  She loved to sing and play the guitar, and she was an avid yodeler. Shirley also enjoyed watching birds, cooking, baking, and sewing. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, May 19, at Robinson Baptist Church, 12011 N. 120th Avenue, Grand Haven, with Pastor Mark Congrove officiating.  Interment Robinson Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Wednesday, May 18, from 4-7 PM at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf (corner of Avery and Scott) 6651 Scott St., Allendale.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Fountain View of Coopersville.
