Sheryl (Medendorp) Styf

Sheryl (Medendorp) Styf, age 70, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2017.  She was known by many as Sherry, was born and raised in Muskegon. She raised her family in Hastings and retired to Sarasota, FL and Wyoming, MI.  Sheryl was born on March 25, 1947 in Muskegon to John and Doris Medendorp. She graduated from Muskegon High School in 1965 and Hope College in 1969. She was a teacher and later gifted/talented coordinator in Hastings. She was a member of Hope United Methodist Church and later Gun Lake Community Church. She enjoyed traveling and making plans to visit her family and places such as Hawaii.  She is survived by her husband, Dave; children, Dan, Jon (Catherine), Matt; four grandchildren, Annabel, Daniella, Monica and Dominic. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Doris Medendorp; and her sister, Joanne Oosterhart.  A memorial service will be held 11 am on Saturday, Sept. 2, at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday from 10-11 am at the funeral home prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kids Hope USA, http://www.kidshopeusa.org/Donate.aspx.
