Sherwyn Jay Emelander

Sherwyn Jay Emelander, age 81, of Jenison, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Marilyn; children, Steve (Karen) Emelander, Sandy (Gary) Plantinga, Ron (Lorie) Emelander, John (Joyce) Emelander; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Donna (Al) Bytwork, Reatha (Andy) Brink; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda Vanden Berg, Evonne and Gordon Ballast; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday 11 am at Twelfth Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 7581 12^th Ave., Jenison, with Rev. James Evenhouse officiating.  Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jenison Christian School or to Emmanuel Hospice. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Emmanuel Hospice and American House - Sandalwood for all the love and compassionate care given to Sherwyn during his time there.
