Shawn Westra

Shawn Michael Westra, age 44, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 19, 2020. Shawn was a devoted and loving husband and father. He loved spending time watching his children's sporting events and also supporting the Detroit Tigers. Shawn worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 20 years at the Hudsonville location, and also served in the U.S Navy for 5 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 24 years, Jenni Westra; children, Travis, Jacob (girlfriend, Ashley Youmans), and Alexis; parents, Jim and Linda Westra; parents-in-law, Rick and Gayle Vorenkamp; sister, Kelly and Chadd Redner; sisters-in-law, Tara Vorenkamp and Jaime Vorenkamp; grandmother-in-law, June Vorenkamp; and many nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020, at 6 p.m. at Hanley Christian Reformed Church, O-372 Jackson, Grandville, with Rev. Douglas Fauble and Rev. Mark Langenbach officiating. Interment will be held at Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and on Friday from 5-5:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Spectrum Health Foundation - Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas Research Fund.
