Sharon Kay Smith

Sharon Kay Smith, age 78, of Caledonia, unexpectedly went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Kym and Linda Smith, Bryan and Lisa Smith, Eric and Cindy Smith, Gwyn Smith; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; extended family and friends. Sharon adored her family and enjoyed quilting, reading, and painting. A private graveside service was held at Alaska Cemetery. The family will be hosting a public outdoor remembrance party on August 29, 2020 at 2pm at the Caledonia Community Green Pavilion, 6260 92nd St. SE, Caledonia, MI 49316. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to the City Rescue Mission of Lansing, 2216 S. Cedar St, Lansing, MI 48910.

So very sorry to hear of Sharon's passing. We were neighbors and best friends in high school, and she married my step-brother. We kept touch through the years, and it was obvious how much she loved her family. She was "special people," for sure; I know this has left a big hole in her family's lives.

Our family would like to extend our condolences to Sharon's family. She took wonderful care of our mother and painted a beautiful picture of Marilyn's dog. I met Sharon through a mutual friend, Alice Ploeg. Sharon would come and spend her time at New Hope FMC “Stitches of Hope” sewing group. I would see her at the Kroc from time to time. Our deepest condolences and prayers for the family! Sharon will be very much missed and she is so much loved.

She was a wonderful neighbor to us...we moved in next door to her and her family in 1982. New homeowners and new parents that first year, and we couldn’t have been in a better place! Our kids called her (and still do) Grandma Smith❣️ She will be missed by many of us!

We are sadden to hear of Sharon’s passing. Our hearts go out to her family. She was very loved by her children and grandchildren from our experienced with the family. She was a wonderful quiltist and made a beautiful quilt for her Granddaughter Caitlin and Luke. I’m sure she will be missed by so many friends and family.
