Sharon Armstrong

Sharon Armstrong, age 61, beloved wife, mother, grandma, daughter, sister, and aunt died at home on February 26, 2021. Metastatic breast cancer took her from us too soon and we will forever remember her strength, compassion, humor, and deep love she had for her family, friends, and pets.

Sharon was born in the city of Chicago to Cecile and Gary Martin. She grew up in the city and 43 years ago she married the love of her life, Daniel Armstrong. Together they raised their son, David. Sharon loved kids, animals, and helping others. She encouraged and supported many children in the family and neighborhood. The family enjoyed spending time together at their cottage in Michigan and could often be found on the lake or on a snowmobile. Sharon was an avid reader, enjoyed crafting, and was a fierce advocate for women’s rights and metastatic breast cancer research. Sharon worked as a printing manager and estimator for many years in Chicago and then in Holland, Michigan. More than anything, Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family and dogs. In 2020, Sharon was thrilled to become a grandma to sweet Madison.

Sharon has had a long journey with cancer and although it has not been easy, she has shown grit and grace throughout the process. Over the years, Sharon was involved in many research studies, mentored others, led support groups, traveled to conferences, and rallied support through social media. Sharon participated in a die-in through the organization Metup and fought to bring awareness, fund research, and find a cure for metastatic breast cancer.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel; son, David (Jackie); granddaughter, Madison; mother, Cecile, and other family and friends. A private celebration of life will follow at a later date.
