Family owned and operated for over 85 years.
Scott Alan Stephan (Hall), age 57, of Walker, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on October 23, 2025. Born on February 22, 1968, Scott’s sudden passing has left his family deeply saddened and heartbroken.
Scott was preceded in death by his uncle, Alvin Hall; foster mom, Char Smith, and a very dear person to him, Karen Lehman.
Scott is survived by his mother, Ellyne Stephan; his three kids, Johnathan Stephan, Dustin (Sheyenne) Stephan, and Courtney (Nolan) Winkler; grandchildren, Melony, Elijah, Jayce, Amelia, Logan, Colton, and Aidan; dear friends, Dundrial Buels, the Weldon family, the Lehman family, the Kathan family and many other families and friends who will cherish his memory.
Scott was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he built a family of his own. His love for fishing and camping became a cherished family tradition, one his children will proudly carry on with their own families. Scott was always the first to lend a helping hand — whether offering a place to stay, a shoulder to lean on, or a few words of heartfelt advice. Known for his warm and welcoming nature, many of his children’s friends affectionately called him “Dad,” grateful for the kind of wisdom and care that no one asked for, but everyone will deeply miss.
Scott enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1986 and was stationed in Germany for active duty. After returning home, he continued his commitment to service by joining the Army Reserves. During this time, he served with the 180th Transportation Company (Medium Truck Cargo) in Muskegon, Michigan, for nearly three years. He was later deployed to serve in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm during the Gulf War, where he was responsible for overseeing all communications. In total, Scott proudly and honorably served his country for eight years.
After his military service, Scott dedicated 27 years to the United States Postal Service, primarily working out of the northeast station. Known for his corny jokes and lighthearted personality, he earned the affectionate nickname “Scotty Too Hottie,” which he wore with a smile. Whether chatting with residents on his route or brightening the office with humor, Scott’s warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met—perfectly reflecting the kind of person and father he was.
A memorial service will be held on November 1, 2025, at 11 a.m., at the MKD funeral home, 1601 Post Dr, Belmont. Relatives and friends may visit the family from 10-11 a.m., at the funeral home prior to the service. A luncheon will follow services. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to a veterans’ charity in Scott’s memory.
