AGUILAR - Santiago Aguilar, aged 84 went to be with his Lord June 18, 2016. Santiago is preceded in death by his parents; Simon and Juana Aguilar, his sister Guadalupe Guevara and baby Santiago Aguilar. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma, his children; Mary (Tom) Velthouse, Jim (Sue) Aguilar Jr., Victor (Martha) Aguilar, Liz Aguilar and Becky (Efrain) Martinez; grandchildren, Cody, Amber and Ashlee Velthouse, Maria (Aaron) Bell, Elaina (Ryan) Broome, Cecilia (Jeff), Rhoads, Victor Aguilar Jr.; great grandchildren, James, Justin, Xhavier, Gavin, Nevaeh, Raelyn, Sienna and Airiana; brothers, Simon (Irman) Aguilar, Robert Aguilar; sisters, Julia Gonzalez, Rebecca Espinoza and Maria Ysasi. He was retired after working 33 years at Kelvinator, a mission worker for St. Joseph for 20 years, and USMC for 2 years. He was active in the Knights of Columbus, De Colores, and was a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers and the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) He had an enormous involvement in the Mexican Independence Annual Festival. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM Friday June 24 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church at 225 32nd St. SW Wyoming, MI 49548. His family will greet relatives and friends 2:00 - 4:00PM and 6:00 to 8:00PM on Thursday, June 23 at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave, Wyoming, and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
