Ruthann Voss, age 69, of Zeeland, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 6, 2023. Born in Chicago, IL, and graduated from Chicago Christian High School. Ruthann married Eugene Voss in 1973 and went to live at the Marine Corps Base in Parris Island, South Carolina. She accompanied Gene as he graduated from Trinity Christian College and Western Theological Seminary. Together they had their three children, Tim, Betsy, and Matt, while living in Chicago. Ruthann was a preschool teacher for 30 years serving at Beverly Reformed in Wyoming, MI; Willow Grove Nursery in Willow Grove, PA; and at Busy Beaver in Lincoln Park, NJ. Her faith was very important to her. She served with her husband for over 40 years in ministry at Thorn Creek Reformed Church in South Holland, IL; Newkirk Reformed Church in Hospers, Iowa; Beverly Reformed Church in Wyoming, MI; Zion Reformed Church in Grandville, MI; Willow Grove Reformed Church in Willow Grove, PA; and First Reformed Church in Lincoln Park, NJ. Of all of the places she has lived and traveled, she especially enjoyed returning to retire in Michigan where she admired the changing seasons and Lake Michigan. Ruthann was an avid reader and enjoyed nature and history. Her favorite place to vacation was at Silver Lake, MI, and the highlight of her travels was visiting the Netherlands in 2017. She cherished spending time with her family, and having coffee and shopping dates with her daughter, Betsy. Most of all, she loved being a grandmother and giving her grandchildren new experiences. She will be greatly missed for her devoted faith, servant heart, love of traditions, sociability and her smile. She was preceded in death by parents, John and Eleanor Rusthoven; and brothers, Paul Rusthoven and John Rusthoven. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 49 years, Eugene Voss; children, Timothy (Beth) Voss, Elizabeth (Vincent) Montejo, Matthew (Erin) Voss; grandchildren, Luke, Jacob, Olivia, Emma Gene, Drew, and Rory. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Faith Reformed Church, 220 W. Central Ave., Zeeland, with Rev. Dr. Eugene Voss officiating. The burial will take place at Zeeland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, March 9, from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home 6651 Scott St., Allendale. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ruthann’s name to Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods.
