Ruth VerMerris

Ruth E. (Siereveld) VerMerris, age 89, of Jenison, was peacefully transitioned from the hands of her loving children into the hands of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. Ruth’s friendly smile will be missed yet cherished by the many friends she established over the years. She always had time for others, laughing with them and sharing their burdens. Ruth used her gift of hospitality to connect with and serve others. She served her Lord at both Grace Reformed Church and Fairhaven Church. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Gordon VerMerris; son, Larry C. VerMerris; and siblings, Janet Rickson, and Marge VerBurg. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Jack and Sandy VerMerris, Shirley VerMerris, Debbie and Steve Persenaire, Patricia and Danny Brown, Pam and Dan Otten, David and Michelle VerMerris; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rol Siereveld, Lois and Russ Rykse; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carol Hemmes, Russ and Doris VerMerris; and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 14, at noon at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Burial Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 10:30 a.m.-noon prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Georgetown and Cambridge Manors.
