Ruth Larabel

August 31, 1919 ~ January 16, 2017

RUTH ELAINE (WARNER) LARABEL, 97, passed away on January 17, 2017. She was born in Lowell, MI to Claude and Leila (Hurley) Warner. Ruth is a descendent of Andrew Warner of Cambridge, MA (1632). She was raised in Coopersville, MI. Ruth was employed by Lear Siegler during WWII, and later by Wurzburg's Department Store, Radio Shack and Baylis Bakery. She served on the Altar Society at St. Francis Xavier Parish; served for many years as an Election Day Poll Worker. She also Volunteered much of her time with the Fish Program - driving people to and from medical appointments. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband Edward F. Larabel; her parents; sisters, Eva (Bronkema) Stewart of Talmage, MI and Arda Hingston of Grant, MI. Ruth is survived by sister, Mary Overholt of Fullerton, CA, Lorna Tellier of Wyoming, MI; Aunt Olga Warner Penzin of Rock Hill, SC; brother-in-law Leonard (Dorthy) Schwallier of Conklin, MI; and by her six children: Claudette (Ronald) Haas of Williamston, MI; Gregg (Penny) Larabel of Grand Rapids, MI; Douglas (Karen) Larabel of Wyoming, MI; Yvonne (Kenneth) Race (mom's care givers given by God); of Wyoming, MI; Rebecca (Daniel) Roberts of Newago, MI; and Jeffrey (Mary) Larabel of Jenison, MI; 13 Grand Children; 17 Great-Grandchildren; 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, friends and the staffs of Aurora Pond of Wyoming, MI , American House of Kentwood, MI and Kindred Hospice Care of Grand Rapids, MI. Ruth lived life to the fullest, enjoying; ice skating, roller skating, bowling (into her 90's), golfing, camping at Key Largo FL, and Grand Haven, MI, playing cards, going to parades and many trips by boat, train, motor home, and automobile. But best of all, she took great pleasure being with her family laughing and enjoying all the children. She will be missed dearly as the center of our lives. The family will greet relatives and friends Thursday, January 19 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S. Division Ave. Wyoming, MI and one hour prior to Mass at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, January 20, at St. John Vianney, 4101 Clyde Park Ave, Wyoming. The Rosary will be recited Thursday at 3:30 PM at Stegenga Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Veterans Home of Grand Rapids.
