Ruth Ann Skeel, age 87, of Byron Center, passed away peacefully and was called home on Thursday, January 18, 2024. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ruth loved to travel, bowl, play bingo and euchre, and most importantly spend time with her family. She enjoyed a fun-filled, happy life. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Joseph Skeel; sister, Janet Zaagman; brothers and sisters-in-law. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, LuAnn (Randy) DeCommer, Rachelle (Ted) Krings, Russ (Fran) Skeel, Pam (Brad) Arnold, Gary (Myrna) Skeel; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bob Zaagman; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. The burial will take place at Grandville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday, January 22, from 4-7 p.m. and Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association or Santa Claus Girls of Kent County.
