Russell Jay Rykse

Russell Jay Rykse, age 94, of Grand Rapids went to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 29, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Agnes Rykse, and eleven siblings. Russ will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 72 years, Lois; children, Laurie and Jack Posthumus, Russ and Carlin Rykse, Beth and Dave Van Dam, Tim and Nancy Rykse; grandchildren, Brandon and Claire Posthumus, Tara and Dave Williams, Leland and Jodi Rykse, Kami and Bryan Holmes, Kristin and Todd Meulenberg, Milan Rykse, Curtis and Jessica Van Dam, Austin and Kelsey Rykse, Courtney and Zach Medendorp; great grandchildren, Bryce Posthumus, Olivia Rykse, Reese Rykse, Christian Posthumus, Grayson Van Dam, Scarlett Posthumus, Abby Derksen, Corbin Meulenberg, Mannix Silverman, Reed Meulenberg, Jonathan Williams, Haven Medendorp, Beckham Posthumus, Jack Williams; extended family and friends. Russ proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Rev. Douglas MacLeod officiating. Burial will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 10-10:45 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice or Holland Home-Raybrook Manor.
