Russell Dale Haan, age 89, of Jenison, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on Friday, March 1, 2019.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Betty Haan; children: Barb and Vern Groenendyk, Ron and Debra Haan, Roger and Judy Haan, Bruce and Kim Haan; grandchildren: Marla and Brad DeKock, Mark and Jessica Groenendyk, Marilee and Jeremy Marsman, Mindi Groenendyk, Phillip and Betsie Haan, Craig and Erin Haan, Matthew and Teray Haan, Leah and Mark Koldenhoven, Sarah and Kevin Chase, Angela and Dan Vander Molen, Ben Haan, David (fiancée, Ashley Sokol) Haan; 26 great-grandchildren; brothers: Warren and Virginia Haan, Ralph and Carol Haan; sisters: Jan and Fred Billin, Cheryl and Donley De Groot, Marcia and Fred Hulst; brother-in-law, Nelson and Kay Rotman; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Huyser, Marge and Bob Smith, Arlene TerMeer, Aloha Meyers; many nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Jessie Haan; sister, Marilyn Rotman.  Russ made family his passion.  He was a truck driver for 42 years, and in his retirement he worked and volunteered at the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds.  He was a lifetime active member of Lee St. CRC.   He also loved his time with the King’s Choraliers.  Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Lee Street Christian Reformed Church, 1261 Lee St. SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Kent Rottman officiating.  Interment will be held at Rosedale Memorial Park.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, Grandville.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Russ and Betty Haan Mission Fund at Lee St. CRC or the Christian Reformed Conference Grounds.

I am so, so happy I had the chance to get to know Russ at Sunset. He visited us in the Admissions Office often and had a great sense of humor. We learned about his faith, family and some life lessons. I will miss his smile and caring ways. My prayers are with your family.
