Russell Duane Reeder

April 23, 1941 ~
September 4, 2021

Russell Duane Reeder, age 80, of Byron Center, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 4, 2021. Russ was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished his family. He was blessed with a servant’s heart and the gift of being a true “handy-man”. He loved to help family and friends with whatever project he could assist with and could figure out anything challenging. Russ retired from Steelcase after 34 years of dedicated service and later worked for Action Die and Tool for 24 years. Russ and his wife Pat enjoyed wintering at Limetree Park in Bonita Springs, Florida for many years, establishing many friendships over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Dorothy Reeder; his granddaughter, Christina Reeder; and his siblings, Maxine, Jack, and Doug. Russ will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Patricia; his children, Kathleen and Stephen Boerigter, Carrie and Paul Koperski, Steve and Trisha Reeder, Christine and Tom Fields; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy and Vern DeYoung. A service to celebrate Russell’s life will be held Sunday, September 12, at 3:30 pm at Woodhaven Reformed Church, 3959 68th St. SW, Byron Center, with Rev. Jon Alexanian officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be given to Faith Hospice.

Steve and family, I an so sorry to hear of your fathers passing. Going through my apprenticeship at Steelcase Russ was one of my mentors, he was always a friendly and helpful teacher. A great sense of humor and encouraging demeanor is how I'll always remember your dad. You and the family will be in my thoughts during these difficult times.
