Russell Larry Crake, age 88, of Jenison, Michigan, passed away from cancer on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, and is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Russ is survived by his wife of 59 years, Junella Ann (Hoksbergen) Crake; daughters, Liane (Dan) Williams, Lynne (Todd) Rosema; six grandchildren, Andrew Rosema (fiancée Samantha Stuzman), Dale (Jenny) Williams, Alex Rosema, Rachel Williams, Lisa (Connor) Bassage, Nathan Williams; sister, Carol (Mike) Manciu. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lettie Jane Crake; and also Steve Crake. Russ, as he was known, was born in Pontiac, Michigan, and moved to the Grand Rapids area soon after; graduating from Kelloggsville High School. He served in the United States Army for two years in the 1950’s. Russ graduated from Aquinas College with a business degree. He started out as a salesman but eventually spent the majority of his career at Old Kent Bank and later as a stockbroker until his retirement. As a retiree, he enjoyed volunteering at thrift stores. He was a Gideon International member for many years and a faithful member of Grace Bible Church. He loved fishing, enjoyed playing card games, playing the bones, listening to music, ice cream sundaes, telling jokes, and a good bargain. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Grace Bible Church, 3715 Wilson Ave. SW, Grandville, MI, 49418, with Pastor Todd Kinde officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, June 20, from 5-7 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Memorial contributions can be made in care of Grace Bible Church (address above) for Rachel Williams and her work in Mozambique with Africa Inland Mission. Please include a note with the donation that it is for Rachel Williams.
