Russell Alvin VerMerris, age 83, of Jenison, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, surrounded by his family. Russ was a man of God who showed his faith by his love and support for his family by being a prayer warrior for everyone and was always willing to help others. He was a true servant of the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Minnie; siblings, Shirley, Gordon, and Norman. Russ will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Doris; children, Steve and Amy VerMerris, Greg and Janice VerMerris, Gwen and Thom Noor, Kevin and Lori VerMerris; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Hemmes; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alvin and Jackie Dykhuizen, Harold and Jo Dykhuizen; extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Seventh Reformed Church, 950 Leonard St. NW, Grand Rapids, with Rev. Paul van Engelenhoven officiating. Burial at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday one hour prior to the service at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
