Remembering Rose Marie Scheidel
Rose Marie Scheidel, age 90, of Rockford, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at home, surrounded by her family. Rose loved birds and was known by neighbors as a “bird-hog” for attracting all the neighborhood birds to her yard. She was a member with her husband of the Rockford Lions club for many years. At age 50, she began playing guitar and enjoyed playing for masses at her church, as well as volunteering in many ways at the church. She also enjoyed mowing her large yard until the age of 88. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, John; children: Christine (Tim) Wilcox, Steven (Deb) Scheidel and Mickel Scheidel; grandchildren: Luke (Kelly) Wilcox, Casey (Brandi) Wilcox, Shannon Wilcox, Allison (Christian) Walters, Maggie (Joel) Hutton; great grandchildren: Eleanora Wilcox, Thomas Wilcox, Clara, Theodore and Marshall Hutton; brother, Lewis Whitlatch; sisters-in-law: Juanita Scheidel, Florence Scheidel; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanne Scheidel; sister, MaryAnn Umlor; brother, Robert Whitlatch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 6390 Belmont Ave. NE, Belmont, with Rev. Charles J. Schwartz and Rev. Louis Anderson presiding. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at MKD Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE, Belmont. A rosary will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, July 12, at St. Mary’s of Assumption Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to ABVM Building Fund or Consolata Sisters.
