Ronald Lee Brown

Ronald Lee Brown, age 80, of Kentwood, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Ron was a hard worker who always stayed busy to help provide for his family. He worked for Amway for 18 years as a communications manager. After that, Ron helped Grand Valley State University by captaining a research vessel for them on Lake Michigan. Ron was an avid boater and fisherman who loved nature, even helping to start the Muskegon Nature Preserve. He also loved to spend his free time serving his community by working with many local organizations and charities. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Louise Brown. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Joan Brown; children, Chris (Jenny) Brown, Kimberly (Andy) Scott; grandchildren, Ethan, Carter, Ben, Sam; siblings, Sharon (Robert) Jorelmon, Donna (Doug) Coles, Richard Brown; and many nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am Monday, June 19 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1253 52nd Street SE, Kentwood, with Fr. Peter Vu officiating. The burial will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Saturday from 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, and on Monday at 10 am before services at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Green Apple Pantry or Faith Hospice.
