Ronald John VanDyke, age 65, of Jenison was called to his Heavenly Home on Friday, September 14, 2018.  Ron was preceded in death by his first wife, Laurie; his father, John VanDyke; and his mother-in-law, Jo Mackus.  He will be dearly missed by his wife, Susan; his mother, Adriana VanDyke; children, Jonathan VanDyke, Lauren (Austin) Bouman, Jonathan (Lauren) Wyngarden, Drew (Megan) Wyngarden; grandsons, Mitchell, Hunter, and Brody Wyngarden; sisters and brother, Diane (Gary) Busscher, Jan (Ron) Wiersum, Kevin (Bev) VanDyke, Nancee (Burk) Holzgen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dave (Deb) Scripsema, Beth (Jim) Hekhuis, Vicki Stroven, Julie (Dan) Holtof; fathers-in-law and mother-in-law, John Mackus, Len (Lois) Scripsema; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ron was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He loved children, especially his grandsons, whom he spoiled while they were with him.  His secret desire was to be a groundskeeper for the Detroit Tigers, and his yard showed it.  On weekends, Ron could be found with the boys fishing in Lake Michigan or hunting up north at The Moose Lip Lodge.  He was a caring, giving, selfless man with a servant’s heart, who loved people.  One of his pleasures in life was to share pizza with the family at Fricano’s.  Ron was devoted to his church family and his God.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Fair Haven Church, 2900 Baldwin St, Hudsonville, 49426. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, and also on Tuesday from 6-6:45 pm at the church prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to the Susan Mast ALS Foundation.
