Ronald Cheyne

Ronald Lee Cheyne, age 74, of Jenison went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 19, 2023. Ron worked at Valley City Environmental Services and was a member of the Jenison Historical Association and the Haire Cemetery Association. He enjoyed being outdoors whether bike riding, camping, backpacking, or cross-country skiing. He was always looking to serve others and extend a caring hand to those in need. He was an avid collector of grandfather clocks. Ron was a family-man and cherished his four grandchildren dearly. He was a devoted member of Fair Haven Church and Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church. Ron will be greatly missed for his kindness, sense of humor, and love for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Esther Cheyne, and sister, Laura Giltner. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Anna Jean; children, Rachel Cheyne, Philip Cheyne; four grandchildren, Uriah, Heather, Lilia, Matthew; beloved nephew, Andy (Shirley) Kuipers; siblings, Jim (Pat) Cheyne, Carol (Joe) Taber, and Rob Cheyne. He is also survived by siblings-in-law, Alyce (Phil) Guichelaar, Gerald (Karen) Rozema, Burt (Phyllis) Rozema, Kathy Rozema, Karin Kuiper, Cheryl Rozema and dozens of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Ridgewood Christian Reformed Church, 1571 Baldwin St. with Pastor Michael Ten Haken officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday, October 23, from 4-7 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW as well as an hour prior to the service at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Jenison Historical Association.
