Remembering Ronald Charles Boorsma

Ronald Charles Boorsma, age 84, of Alto, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, peacefully surrounded by his family.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman.  He worked as a lineman/serviceman and retired after over 30 years from Consumers Energy.  He enjoyed working in his yard and maintaining his properties.  He also enjoyed time at his cottage on Holland Lake.  He later enjoyed golfing and feeding birds.  He also enjoyed snacking and electrical tape to fix everything???   His faith was important to him, especially serving many years in the choir at Holy Family.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and discussing the cottage plans for the weekend, and his beloved canine companion, Harvey.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Jacqueline; children: Judith and Gerald Graves, Jill Boorsma-Jewell and Mark Jewell, Jennifer Boorsma, Joel Boorsma, Jason and Belinda Boorsma; grandchildren:  Ethan Jewell, Willem Jewell, Jackson Boorsma, Spencer Boorsma, Amelia Boorsma, Lilah Boorsma, Abigail Boorsma; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Patrick Cook, Kathleen (Mike) Cavanaugh, Judy Cook, Mary Cook; many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest “Boots” and Alice (Hudson) Boorsma; sister, Staranne Nicklow; brothers-in-law: Ron Cook, Bill Cook.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Holy Family Church, 9669 Kraft Ave. SE, Caledonia, with Rev. Philip Shangraw presiding.  Burial will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St. SE, Caledonia.  A visitation will also be held Wednesday one hour to the service at the church.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Parkinson's Association of West Michigan (https://parkinsonswm.org/donate/) or Catholic Charities of West Michigan (https://ccwestmi.org/donate/).  The family wishes to express their sincerest gratitude to the Corewell Health nursing staff and hospice for their loving care of Ronald.
