Roger Wierenga

Roger A. Wierenga, age 93, of Jenison, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Christmas Day, Monday, December 25, 2023. Roger was a kind and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always put others before himself. He was a Korean War Veteran, proudly serving his country in the US Army. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruth (Scholma); and his grandson, Jason Michael Kleinjans. Roger is also reunited with many family members in heaven who preceded him. He will be lovingly remembered by his family: Gary and Karen Wierenga and their children, CJ Wierenga and Ashley Benton, Kate and Mark Dennis (Ethan, Molly, and Gibson); Joan and Gary Kleinjans and their children, Jaimy and Ross Stevens (Peyton and fiance, Adam, Ashtyn, Dakota, Brecken), Kurt and Liz Kleinjans (Haven, Hope); Judy and Jerry White and their children, Ryan and Bridget White (Mackenzie, Brady, and Jack), Tara White; Rick and Kathy Wierenga and their children, Jeff and Martha Wierenga (Pearl, Emerald, and Wells), Stephanie and Dan Langerak; sisters, Phyllis and Rodger DeVries, Marge Faber; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Hi and Ruth Scholma; many loving nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 4-7 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW and also from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service at church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison, with Rev. Don VanSlyke officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff and caregivers of American House and Faith Hospice for the love and compassionate care given to Roger.
