Roger W. Slagter, age 73, of Jamestown and Drummond Island, much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, September 20, 2017. He was welcomed by his Savior. While in heaven now, we will always keep with us the special memories...coffee in the morning at the Old Time Diner, and in the afternoon at McDonalds. Rog’s favorite toy was his lawn mower and he would have loved to mow everyone’s lawn. He was willing to build anything anyone would like him to build. He always had time for those he held dear, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We can count on him to “tell it like it was”. Through his journey in life he was always assured God was in control. Words cannot express how much his family and friends will miss him. He will be remembered by his loving wife of 44 years, Joy; their children, Karen (Gary) Meyer, Karmen (Jerry) De Young, Todd (Judi) Kortman, Lori (Bruce) Main, Tim (Deb) Kortman, Julie Slagter; 25 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 sisters; and brothers and sisters-in-law. A memorial service will be held Saturday 11 am at Jamestown Christian Reformed Church, 1653 Riley St., Hudsonville, with Rev. Dan Gritter officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 4-7 pm at the church and also Saturday from 10-11 am at church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Jamestown CRC.

My heartfelt sympathies to Rogers family...
I went to Grandville High School with Rog and had many classes with him.. A quiet but good guy always willing to help....
Our paths crossed again while I was volunteering at Laurels of Hudsonville a few years back.. He seemed to recover quite well..
May you receive Gods Blessings in your time of grief...
