Family owned and operated for over 85 years.
Roger L. Van Koevering, age 88, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Roger was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A hardworking provider, he dedicated more than 30 years to his craft in furniture upholstery. His deep commitment to Christian values was evident in his strong support of Christian education—he was especially proud to have sent all five of his children to Grandville Calvin Christian School. Roger cherished time outdoors, particularly hunting up north with his two sons, Doug and Den. Summers at the family cottage on Big Star Lake were among his favorite memories, filled with laughter, rest, and togetherness. Above all, Roger loved the Lord. His life was a powerful testimony of faith, reflected in his 68 years of loving marriage to his wife, Jean. He led by quiet, enduring example, leaving a legacy of devotion, integrity, and unwavering belief. His life verse, from II Timothy 4:7 sums it all up: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
He was preceded in death by his three siblings; seven siblings-in-law; and eight great-grandchildren. Roger is lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Jean Van Koevering; children, Deb and Steve Buerger, Doug and Tricia Van Koevering, Den and Barb Van Koevering, Dawn and Clutch Holtvluwer, Danette and Keith Hoekman; 19 grandchildren; Heather and Nick, Erin and Tim, Andrew and Sullivan, Eli and Caroline, Michaela and Michael, Seth and Malyn, Tate and Kalee, Amber and Nate, Chaz and Stacie, Jessica, Kelsey and John, Ashley, Chris, Kaylee and Nate, Brittany and Matt, Lindsey, Taylor, Morgan, Ryleigh; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gerrietta Van Koevering, Marvin and Donna DeVries, Sherwin and Donna DeVries, Ron Smith; many nieces and nephews.
